    Description

    • The mission of The First Tee of the East Bay (TFTEB) is to positively impact the lives of young people in the Oakland and Hayward areas by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. The First Tee Life Skills Experience is an after-school and summer program that helps children and youth in Oakland and Hayward learn life skills and develop a set of nine Core Values through the game of golfhonesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment. The program engages young people in well-organized activities helping them develop life skills and values that allow them to face challenges at home, school, and play in a constructive manner. The skills they learn include problem-solving, goal-setting, time-management, controlling ones emotions, working well with others, and improving relationships with family and community. TFTEB leads three eight-week sessions per year of The First Tee Life Skills Experience. There are five Life Skills Experience classes per week, each 1.5 hours long. The program is hosted at three municipal golf courses in Oakland (Lake Chabot Golf Course, Montclair Golf Course, and Metropolitan Golf Links) and two in Hayward (Mission Hills of Hayward and Skywest Golf Course).
