• The Marconi Society awards innovators for achievements in networking and the Internet, including discoveries in 5G, GPS, the Internet of Things, wireless and fiber optics. Established in 1974 by the daughter of Guglielmo Marconi, the Nobel Laureate who invented radio, the Marconi Society recognizes significant individual achievements through the Marconi Prize and the Young Scholar Awards and promotes awareness of key technology and policy issues in telecommunications and the Internet. Marconi Prize winners are recognized for outstanding achievement and innovations that change the lives of people around the world. The connected world that we know and love today is due, in large part, to the Marconi Fellows. The Fellows include luminaries in networking and communications such as Tim Berners-Lee, Vint Cerf, Martin Cooper, Martin Hellman, Len Kleinrock and Ron Rivest. Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholars award gives young researchers from leading universities and companies international recognition, inspirational networking with industry leaders and the opportunity to impact the lives of students in developing countries.
