- Susan Esserman is the founder and director of Seventh Moon ~ Perinatal Support Services which was founded in 1997. Susan Esserman is a licensed clinical social worker (MSW and LCSW) who has worked as a perinatal social worker (working with women around issues of pregnancy, birth and parenting) since 1987. Susan counsels individuals and couples prenatally and postpartum on issues relating to pregnancy, birth and parenting. She also runs a postpartum support group (New Moms Circle) for new mothers and their babies and teaches parenting classes, with the focus on an attachment style of parenting and breastfeeding. Susan is a certified birth and postpartum doula. Susan is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) as well as an accredited Breastfeeding Counseling Specialist for La Leche League International. She is also certified as a Lamaze® childbirth educator. Susan facilitates parenting groups that are affiliated with Attachment Parenting International (API). She is the mother of four children and two stepchildren.
