• BEDC strives to connect businesses and entrepreneurs to the many resources available in the Brookings region. BEDC serves as an advocate to the business community by aiding in the retention and expansion of local businesses and working to attract targeted new business and industries that closely align with the assets of the area. The organization seeks to retain and attract workers for area businesses through its workforce recruitment and retention programs. BEDC manages Vision Brookings, a private fundraising initiative designed to grow the economy by capitalizing on the region's many opportunities. Vision Brookings raised $4.8M through two five-year initiatives. These investments leveraged an additional $24.8M for local economic development projects. Vision Brookings III (2017-2021), with a goal of $2.5M, will continue to build on prior investments and successes while focusing on the region's major challenges and opportunities: workforce, business development and entrepreneurship.
