• Open Heart Magic (OHM) is a Chicago-based non-profit organization that works to improve the hospital experience for kids. Our Mission is to use the therapeutic power of magic and laughter to energize and strengthen seriously ill children and aid their healing. We strive to reach young patients one-by-one regardless of their disease, medical situation or physical ability so that all children may benefit from this engaging and entertaining therapy.We currently have 120 Volunteer Hospital Magicians providing service in 10 hospitals in the greater Chicago area and will be launching programs in Ann Arbor & Cleveland this February. Our volunteers help kids where and when they need it most - at their hospital bedside. Hospital Magicians perform interactive magic with the patients and teach each one how perform a trick, allowing the impact to continue long after the Hospital Magician has left. OHM provided 9,467 of these one-on-one Bedside Magic performances to kids and their families in 2015 and continues to build on that success.In addition to volunteer Hospital Magicians, we have amazing people who volunteer on our Professional Board and our Charity Team (runners, triathletes, tough mudders, etc.). OHM is a community funded organization with the lion's share of our funding coming individual donors, local companies, the Annual Open Heart Magic Benefit, and the aforementioned charity team.
