Bnta

Description

• BNTA exists to engage, entertain and inspire the community through traditional and contemporary theatre from diverse international origins. The British National Theatre of America (BNTA) was formed in April 2008, when production began on its inaugural first show, CINDERELLA, a traditional British Pantomime. An overwhelming response to this first production confirmed to BNTA the need for off-strip theatre for the Las Vegas community. The company is currently putting together its first full season of work, which is to include an original physical theatre piece, a US premiere of a British play and a new pantomime adaptation of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARVES. BNTA primarily works with professionals from the Strip shows, such as Cirque du Soleil and STOMP OUT LOUD. The company wants to bring artists together with their different skill set and utilize them in their productions. The company wants to engage these international communities to produce exciting theatre, which will be as unique as Las Vegas' mix of cultures.BNTA is also in the process of setting up an education and outreach program. Through the youth work, BNTA is working to create the next generation of artists for the city and giving the youth of Las Vegas an opportunity to learn from the top performing professionals that live in their city. It is BNTAs purpose to provide the city of Las Vegas with a resident theatre company who engages the community in their work and one that provides a much-needed voice for the city. The founders of the company, Robert Winch, Richard Perkin and Jo Cattell between them have a collective experience of working on the Londons West End, the Millennium Dome, for Disney, Cirque du Soleil, on Broadway shows, and international tours. This non-profit organisation is dedicated to producing cross-cultural theatre, both original work created with like-minded artists or premieres of British plays.
