• West Side Neighborhood Housing Services is a private, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Buffalo's neighborhoods by providing safe, affordable and sustainable housing opportunities for all.West Side NHS is a NeighborWorks Chartered Member, and shares staff and programs with Black Rock-Riverside NHS. Together, the two agencies offer full-cycle lending and other neighborhood-stabilizing programs to all communities west of Main Street in the city of Buffalo.West Side and Black Rock-Riverside NHS programs focus on stabilizing neighborhoods, primarily through promoting successful homeownership. Programs take prospective and current homeowners through the full life-cycle of homeownership, from financial literacy and credit counseling to homebuyer education, rehab lending, and foreclosure prevention. These full-cycle programs strengthen and stabilize neighborhoods by increasing homeownership rates and keeping homeowners in place. The agencies sponsor community and service events throughout the year, including clean-ups, public art, community gardens, front yard and facade improvements, and other neighborhood beautification projects, as well as informational events and fairs.
