• When home is no longer safe and a child must enter foster care, a judge may appoint a CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocate, a volunteer focused on that child, to guide them to a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible. MissionThe mission of Texas CASA is to support local CASA volunteer advocacy programs and to advocate for effective public policy for children in the child protection system.Company OverviewTexas CASA, Inc., advocates for abused and neglected children in the court system through the development, growth and support of local CASA programs in Texas. Texas CASA also advocates in the Texas and U.S. Capitols for foster children and improvements to the child protection system.Texas CASA was formed in 1989 as a result of a merger between the Texas Task Force on Permanency Planning and the Texas CASA network that was made up of the 14 existing CASA programs in the state. Today, the CASA movement has evolved into one of the largest volunteer organizations in the country. In Texas, there are 72 local CASA programs with nearly 8,500 volunteers serving nearly 26,000 foster children in 211 counties.
