- Since 2006, WeCount! has focused on leadership development, community-building activities, and campaigns for social change. Our leaders have campaigned for just and humane immigration reform, an end to immigration raids and family separation, against wage theft and for alternatives to zero tolerance policies in the schools. In 2006, we were one of the organizations that led massive immigrant rights demonstrations in Homestead, and we began working with day laborers to protect their right to seek work without harassment from anti-immigrants or law enforcement. In 2007, we began working with youth, and supporting workers who had experienced wage theft. From 2008 to 2010, WeCount! opened a center for day laborers in the Cutler Bay area, 10 miles north of Homestead, supported by Miami-Dade County.WeCount! is part of the national movement for immigrants rights. We are dues-paying members of the Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC) and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON), and we participate in the South Florida Wage Theft Task Force.
