Company History: Jet Plastica started as separate companies. Plastica was founded in North Wales, PA in 1947 and manufactured plastic spoons, forks, and knives. It was incorporated in 1954 as Plastica Company, Inc. Requiring more manufacturing capacity, the company moved to neighboring Hatfield, PA in 1982 at its present location.Jet Container Corporation began in Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1962, as a manufacturer of plastic cups. In 1970, Jet was purchased by W. R. Grace Corp., who sold to it to Mobil Chemical Company in early 1974. The owners of Plastica bought Jet Container from Mobil Chemical in 1982 and a straw manufacturing facility from Union Carbide in 1985 to form the present day company Jet Plastica.
