- Washington English Center (formerly Language ETC) offers adult immigrants in the Washington, DC area high-quality English language instruction (basic-advanced), and other educational services computer classes, one-on one tutoring, and life-skills seminars.Our vision is for our students to build a better future for themselves and for their children and to become contributing and self-reliant members of our community. Our students come from more than 80 nations around the world. We offer merit and needs-based scholarships. We charge minimum tuition for our classes, and turn no one away for inability to pay. We work with over 2,300 adult students annually. We accomplish our goals with a small staff, over 300 volunteer teachers and tutors each term, and the support of many, including individual donors from our neighborhood and community. Washington English Center is making a real difference in the lives of immigrants in the community. Please let us know how you would like to get involved!
