• MISSION: To equalize the social, political and economic standing of women and men globally by providing the physical and virtual spaces, tools, and services required by non profits working on womens empowerment. At the moment the project is transitioning from being conceived of and sponsored by the Finland Center Foundation, a 501c3, to its own legal entity. Its purpose is to create a World Center for Women in New York City, to house and incubate organizations working locally and globally for women's empowerment. The aim is for the center to be a social enterprise, offering office, conference, and event space, housing for visitors, needed services, as well as an environment conducive to collaboration and mutual inspiration for small- to medium-sized NGO's. Currently all of our employees are pro bono volunteers with different skill sets. As of December 2014, we are looking for Board members with a financial as well as ideological commitment to the project, so that we can begin hiring staff to take the next steps in realizing the Center. A Business plan is in the works and a seminar'- workshop day for women's organizations planned for spring 2015, funded by a recently successfully completed crowdfunding campaign. Soon we will be looking for social impact investors and grant funding for the next stage of the campaign.
