• With goals to increase charitable giving within the St. Louis region and to maximize the impact of those dollars in the area, the St. Louis Community Foundation provides tax-efficient and cost-effective charitable funds that are customized to meet each donors specific charitable goals. Donors are also able to tap the expertise and knowledge of our Foundation staff who objectively lend advice and work collaboratively with our donors, their wealth advisors, and the nonprofit community. Grants made from the majority of the Foundations funds reflect the specific interests of the donors who established them, and include the arts, community development, education, the environment, health, human services, and religion. The St. Louis Community Foundation makes the following fund options available: Donor-Advised: The donor makes grant recommendations and determines funding amounts and the timing of the contributions. Designated Funds: Donors structure their fund agreements to support the activities of their choice at one or more nonprofits. Donors may also designate a type of nonprofit (e.g., those working with children or the arts) they would like to support, and the foundation selects the beneficiaries based on the donors criteria. Scholarship: Scholarship awards for the benefit of individual students may also be established. Field of Interest: Donors focus their resources on a particular nonprofit segment, rather than specific institutions. These funds can benefit a geographic area, population group, or an area of interest. Supporting Foundation: Using the Foundations nonprofit umbrella, donors may establish a separate grant-making entity to make charitable gifts in line with their charitable goals. Operations, investments, and grant-making are overseen by the supporting foundations board of directors in partnership with the Community Foundation.
