During the process of creating Bear Food, owner's Down Syndrome brother Miller was on his way to adulthood. I knew that his high school graduation would be a milestone for his life. More than 80% of adults with disabilities and special needs are unemployed, and we wanted to help Miller change that trend. Through my experience with the special needs community, many of these adults want a chance to show that they are capable, and I saw an opportunity for Bear Food to provide opportunities for these adults to fulfill their dreams. Through our fulfillment center, Bear Food is creating a workplace environment for special needs adults to gain positive job experience and training.
