• Charters in the Virgin IslandsTypically I schedule my sailing charters to begin with the onset of the tropical breezes at around 8:30 am unless my guests like a late start, in which case, an hour more of sleep will usually do the trick. While Buddy, my pet wolf. can hardly wait for the dingy trip to the National Park Service pier to get his business done, I become more fully awake on the quick trip in and also get a chance to check my emails at my booking agents nearby marketing kiosk. Before motoring back to the sailboat, Ill get a bag of ice to make my rum punch have a real impression. It doesn't have the customary eleven herbs and spices, but the unique blend of coconut, orange, pineapple, and lime juice sets the mood without an overwhelming taste of the three blends of rum. Once back on board with everything set, Ill take to the dingy back to dock to retrieve the charter guests. My showtime begins with a seamlessly transparent introduction followed by the ride out to the sailboat at anchor.By the time that the mooring is released, everyone has been safety oriented and is happily engaged in an activity or conversation. The transition from Wall St for me had not been easy but I felt a proud sense of accomplishment in completely changing my profession to leave the ethically challenged investment banking world to move on to a saner and stable way of life.As a charter captain, my guests include a lot of wannabes and has-beens in the investment issues. To pass the time with them between the snorkel / SCUBA dives and sailing to the nearby foreign islands, I keep the guests entertained with my stories of travels and career challenges.
