Momentum La

Description

• Momentum LA is a new innovation environment for Los Angeles biotechnology, nanotechnology and the life sciences that accelerates technology development while creating local jobs, opportunities for internships (high school students, college, university) and economic benefit for the neighborhood and environs. We do not propose merely an incubator. Incubator models have been shown to be relatively ineffectual as business models and dont add great of value to the challenges experienced by early stage companies. Our vision is to create a managed biotechnology ecosystem that leverages the facilities proximal at the USC Health Science Campus, the experience and energy of local entrepreneurs and the advisory and support functions of the County, USC, Cal Tech and others.Momentum LA will be even more closely integrated into the local community than traditional incubators. A separate, but associated, company - Momentum LA Staffing will manage the recruitment, hiring and administrative human resources requirements of the incubator, act as a platform for coordinating skills retraining of local workforce where appropriate, and manage an internship program where talented local vocational and high school students can gain valuable work experience.More space can provide an area for the biotech companies as they graduate from the incubator as well as for service, investment and other companies that wish to be located near Momentum LA and/or the USC Health Sciences Campus in essence the organic growth of the Momentum LA biotechnology innovation ecosystem.
