- Neighborhood Housing Services of Minneapolis, Inc. is a non-profit agency, incorporated as Northside Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. in October of 1980. Initially targeting reinvestment to certain North Minneapolis neighborhoods, NHS of Minneapolis has expanded numerous times over its history. In 2003, at the request of neighborhood groups, private partners, and public partners, NHS implemented a major expansion to target specific South Minneapolis neighborhoods for targeted initiatives, and expanded citywide for other services. This expansion prompted the name change to Neighborhood Housing Services of Minneapolis.With redevelopment through lending as our major stabilization strategy for neighborhoods experiencing decline, NHS of Minneapolis has promoted over $249 million dollars of reinvestment. This is made possible by our ability to leverage local investments and contributions with national resources.
