- Now in its 29th season, the Symphony of the Americas has been thrilling audiences with world-class performances of f the classical repertoire. Led by world renowned and award winning Artistic Director and Composer James Brooks-Bruzzese, the Symphony has taken an inventive approach each season by combining classical music with other art forms on stage to engage and develop new audiences with a variety of international guest artists. The Symphony is committed to serving South Floridas multicultural population and a designated Major Cultural Institution in Broward County. The Symphony has called the Broward Center for the Performing Arts home for its International Guest Artist series since the gala opening concert of the Amaturo Theater in 1991. The orchestras musical legacy has been captured on PBS and more than 30 compact disc recordings. Since its inception, The Symphony has collaborated closely with local non-profit organizations and municipalities to present outreach concerts and educational programs. The Symphony has also served as a cultural bridge to audiences in Latin America and Europe, thanks to the internationally renowned Summerfest program, a six-week cultural exchange with major European chamber orchestras joined by selected Symphony members presenting concerts throughout Florida and the Americas under Maestro Brooks-Bruzzeses baton. His talent as a passionate conductor, an artistic innovator and a dedicated educator, showcases the talents of the Symphony and South Florida to audiences around the world. While music may be one of our most intangible arts, for notes and melodies last only as long as they are heard, Maestro Brooks-Bruzzese and the Symphonys contributions to our community will last for decades to come.
