• Seafood Nutrition Partnership® is a nonprofit focused on the mission to inspire a healthier America through partnerships that raise awareness about the essential nutritional benefits of eating seafood.In 2015, public health officials revised the USDA/HHS Dietary Guidelines for Americans, to include the recommendation to eat seafood twice a week as part of a healthy diet. Unfortunately, 80-90 percent of Americans are not following this recommendation per Harvard School of Public Health. According to NOAA and USDA, annual American per capita seafood consumption is 14.5 pounds and consumption continues to be flat and declining. In comparison, Americans on average annually consume 73 pounds of poultry, 80 pounds of oils, 110 pounds of red meat, 140 pounds of sugar, and 600 pounds of dairy.Seafoods essential nutritional benefits are supported by rigorous scientific research including a 2006 Harvard Medical School study that found eating seafood at least twice a week reduces the risks of dying from heart disease by 36%. Seafood Nutrition Partnership commits to building awareness of seafoods essential health benefits in the prevention of heart disease and developing the tools and resources necessary to easily incorporate seafood into todays American diet through education and awareness.
