- Center for Independent Futures is a not-for-profit organization that helps individuals with disabilities and their families access the skills and opportunities to realize full lives. We create products and services to establish sustainable solutions through community living options, personal networks, lifelong planning and education.Center for Independent Futures provides life skills tutoring and support services along with educational, cultural and social activities for individuals with disabilities living in the Chicagoland area. Our person-centered approach includes the use of our best-practice tools, like our Skills Inventory, our Planning Process, and our Skills Training curriculum.Our proprietary products and services are designed to be replicated and adapted for use in a variety of environments. We have trained family groups, schools and agencies to recreate our housing models, to help students prepare for the transition into and from high school, and to help individuals plan and build support networks for independent living.
