- Bridges to Learning supports schools in Vietnam. Founded in 2004 by Jerilyn Fosdick Hirsch, Bridges to Learning has helped the community around the Anh Linh Free School in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) create a school where there was a pigsty. Today the full sized school features a computer lab with 18 new computers, purified water, large common spaces, and ample classrooms for over 400 students. More importantly, Anh Linh School provides meals, hair cuts, health screenings and uniforms. A few of the sponsored students attend public school or college. This is a real hands on project. Each child provides yearly letters back to their sponsors. Without this program, these children would have no chance to attend school. 100% of the 30 students who finished 5th grade during 2009-2010 passed the Vietnamese national exam to enter into the 6th grade. Bridges has helped established relationships with international schools in Singapore and other countries and has located other funding partners. As Bridges to Learning grows, it will embrace the needs of other schools from lessons learned with Anh Linh. Stay tuned.
