• With the signing of the Ohio Workmens Compensation Act on June 15, 1911, Ohio became one of the first in the nation to offer, what was then, a new kind of insurance. More than one hundred years later, this system remains a fundamental protection for Ohios work force and businesses. Our job at BWC is to ensure workers injured on the job receive the medical treatment necessary to recover and return to work, and to make certain they receive fair compensation during that recovery. Carrying out the duties of the largest state-fund insurance system in the nation are nearly 2,000 employees in 14 locations throughout Ohio, all focused on BWCs prevention and care mission.Working together, these two concepts ensure we are creating safer workplaces to reduce accidents and getting injured workers healthy and back on the job more quickly when accidents do happen.
