- People Making a Difference (PMD) organizes one-time, hands-on volunteer projects for individuals, partners with businesses to promote effective community involvement, and assists nonprofit leaders in quality volunteer management.PMD has engaged 8,700+ volunteers and 43 for-profit and public business partners, executing 1,300+ service projects helping 139 partner charities, of which 76% cannot operate their own volunteer programs. PMD provides high quality volunteer experiences that make a real difference to local charities.Community Service Projects - PMDs well planned projects engage 700+ volunteers/yr in meaningful, hands-on work that effectively meets real needs and educates volunteers about the context of their work. Participants consistently feel energized and motivated from making a difference via PMD. Corporate Community Involvement - PMD partners with businesses to identify clear objectives and then to develop appropriate employee volunteer opportunities. Involvement ranges from research and project development to all planning and full-service execution, so that employers need only recruit participants. PMD offers expertise and convenience. 2016 corp partners include Novartis, Blue Cross Blue Shield of MA, and Alkermes.JOIN THE BOARDPMD seeks qualified candidates for its Board of Directors, which directs and governs the organization. Nominations are being accepted for 3-year terms on a rolling basis.
