- Founded in 1938 in a small garage in the tiny town of Huntley, Nebraska, Allmand celebrates more than 75 years in the manufacturing business. In the midst of the Great Depression and unable to afford a new arc welder for their repair shop, brothers Leslie and Walter Allmand built their own. It worked so well that their neighbors asked the brothers to build welders for them, and the business was born. Allmand's reputation pledges quality, high performance equipment built with integrity and excellence.Allmand is now a subsidiary of the Briggs & Stratton Corporation, a trusted global leader in power and power equipment, which provides Allmand with advanced R&D and testing facilities, a strong financial backing and a commitment to focus on and grow the Allmand customer base.The combination of Allmand with Briggs & Stratton will provide even more opportunities for our people and our customers.
