• The Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida (AAASWFL) is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to connect older adults and adults with disabilities to resources and assistance for living safely with independence and dignity. AAASWFL is the states designated Aging and Disability Resource Center for Southwest Florida. Our region covers Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Lee, and Sarasota Counties. Our toll-free helpline can assists seniors, adults with disabilities, and caregivers find needed services in our community. HELPLINE: 866-413-5337 Call us Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Our Helpline specialists can help you find: Adult Day Care Caregiver Training, Support or Respite Case Management Housing Assistance Meal Programs and Nutrition Medicare and Medigap Health Care Housekeeping Legal Assistance Personal Care Shopping Assistance Transportation Volunteer Opportunities and more! Our SHINE program assists Medicare recipients with their benefits, including open enrollment assistance, Medicare savings programs, and filing claims and appeals. We provide health and wellness workshops for older adults and their caregivers. Our elder abuse prevention and education program can help you better understand how to identify, report, and prevent abuse, fraud and exploitation.
