• Wilhide Draperies was founded in September 1978 by Stephen Wilhide. Steve began the business with three employees and struggled to find enough work to keep the workroom operating. Within the third year of operation, the business began to show a modest profit with indications of growth potential.In 1983 the newly incorporated Wilhide Draperies moved its facilities to the present location, 1900 Light Street. Specialized workroom equipment was purchased, production lines were organized, and management personnel were hired in order to increase productivity.The business continued to grow and in 1986 the workroom divided into two workrooms; one continuing to fabricate custom draperies and the other fabricating specialty items (i.e., swags, valances, bed ensembles, etc.). The addition of an upholstery workroom in 1987, has further expanded the services at the business. All of this was done as an effort to better serve the client.At the present time, Wilhide Draperies, Inc. has about twenty-five employees and maintains a strong client base. A major commitment is to establish goals and direct the future growth of the company in ways which will enhance the individual potential of each employee, thus perpetuating the growth of the organization well into the future.
