KStarr is a young non-profit organization based in Boston, MA. The KStarr mission is to help each individual become a powerhouse. KStarr operates a comprehensive program designed to transform the lives of women who are from socially and financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Our interactive program, a boot camp of sorts, teaches everything from self-esteem to resume writing, public speaking to establishing and maintaining a budget. We develop a plan with each woman to addresses continuing education, job readiness and job placement. By the end of the program, each women should have the confidence and the tools to create a fulfilling life, physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually.KStarr also runs a mentoring program for at-risk teens who have demonstrated great potential. The KStarr Teens are taught life skills, college preparedness, and community awareness. We educate the teens about issues of social justice and encourage a spirit of civic service. Exceptional teens are even offered internships at the KStarr office! Thus far, the program has been a success which can be measured by improved grades and safer behavior of teens in the program, as well as by their enthusiasm about being a KStarr Teen.
