• Did you know that in our world today, approximately 80% of those with disabilities live in developing countries where services and supports lack greatly, if they exist at all? Those with disabilities are often excluded from society and lack basic opportunities, like going to the doctor, school, or even interacting with their peers, hindering their potential. We are Disability Support International (DSI), founded because we believe that as a society and world, we have the means to bring about change for the better and do more to combat the systemic cycle of global disability and poverty. We aim to respond to the immense need to support children with disabilities in developing countries and come alongside of the people within these countries striving for the same. Our mission is to advocate, support, and empower to improve the lives of children with disabilities living in developing countries so they are able to live life to the fullest. At DSI, we work in collaboration with partner organizations in developing countries to carry out this mission in a manner that facilitates sustainable in-country growth. We envision a world where every person with a disability can access a high quality of life by receiving adequate care and support from their local communities. We strive towards this aim while simultaneously sparking a global conversation about the value, beauty, and potential within each person who has a disability. We believe that: - Equal human rights and a high quality of life should be a reality for everyone. - Cross-cultural collaboration benefits us all. - That we can and should work to reduce the cycle of disability and poverty. We are currently beginning our work in Cambodia, with plans to scale to other countries in the future. Connect with us!
