• During the last 25 years I have had the honor to serve the IEC at local, state,national level in numerous capacities. In each of these ventures I was blessed with the opportunity to sit in the same room and offer my opinions with some of the finest men I have ever met. I can honestly say I learned from each of them. Of all the IEC assignments or committee's I was a member, the apprentice comm is by far the most rewarding to me.In some small way it would be nice to think at some point in the future some one would say, Ted made a difference. It is a foregone conclusion that Andy Moreno changed this comm for the better. I am sure I will not be the 1st, however, I do want voice my opinion, as always, Andy Moreno was a giant in the advancement of the importance to train and motivate new students. I jokingly chided you today by saying what are we going to do when we need to interview prospective apprentices? When in reality it was not a joke. You turned the interview process from boring and mundane, for the interviewer and the interviewee, into a motivation session and a history lesson. I often wished after an interview session with you that I was 45 years younger so I could start all over again. On several occasions I would speak up quit passionately on a given subject that I just knew I was right on. Usually there would be a few comments that did not follow my thoughts. After a mild or sometimes heated discussion, without fail, Andy would , in a very calm voice, offer an opinion. More often than not I wanted my comments back. You have a very unique way of just making sense. Your compassion is very evident, but not overwhelming. you have demonstrated the ability to be tough when needed with out being abrasive. Above all, I have always left every meeting thinking, boy, Andy is consistent and fair. I am confident I am a better man today than I would be if our paths had never crossed, for sure a little wiser. You will be sorely missed on this committeeTed Robertson
