    • The mission of Center for Families is to be a welcoming place with multiple resources that partner with parents in their efforts to nurture, protect and teach their children. Center for Families is the result of the merging of 4 of Dane Countys most effective and beloved family support agencies. As of January 2011, the Exchange Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, Family Centers, Family Enhancement and the Respite Center merged into one agency that is a complete integration of program staff and budget. How we do it:Family visitation programs include: Welcome Baby - in-home visiting for firsttime parents; PACT - in-home support for parents with cognitive challenges; Neighborhood Parent Aide - in-home help for parents struggling to maintain custody of their kids; Early Childhood Initiative - in-home wrap-around services for at-risk parents in specific locations. Parent education programs include: Parents Place - parent support and education groups in multiple locations throughout Dane County; CORE - court ordered parent education; Play and Learn - fun zone activities and equipment for parents with kids younger than 5. Crisis/respite child care for children: The Respite Center - Dane Countys only crisis/ respite shelter for children. Parents get counseling and families get relief when they are struggling with the stress that is part and parcel of parenting.
