Montana Center For Investigative Reporting

Description

• MTCIR is a new nonprofit nonpartisan newsroom in Montana that produces in-depth and enterprise reporting in the public interest on issues crucial to the healthy function of Montana communities.Funded mostly through philanthropy by national, regional, community and family foundations and even more importantly by individual donors in our own communities; local accountability journalism is a vital part of every community.Local accountability journalism maintains a close watch on those with power or influence over the rest of us and sounds an alarm when abuses or betrayels of the public trust are discovered. Perhaps most important, it sparks conversation about what really matters in our communities and gives citizens the information they need to be civically engaged. It is the very kind of journalism for which the First Amendment exists. And it is invaluable to democracy.MTCIR's in-depth, innovative and enterprise reporting is published on our website and packaged with multiple platforms in mind making our content available to local and national newspapers, television and radio news stations and other online news organizations.*MTCIR is proud to be a member of the Investigative News Network
