- In 1999 Carolyn Hess's vision was specific, create a program that would help address the low high school graduation rates of Canton teens, specifically those teens who faced social and economic barriers to earning a diploma. More than ten years later her vision has become a reality that includes an administrative office and construction trades training campus and a non-profit community vocational high school that has helped hundreds of Stark County youth earn a high school diploma, learn construction trade skills and rehabilitate or build new housing for low and moderate income families.As a YouthBuild USA Affiliate, Project REBUILD continues to build skills, build lives and build community simultaneously. To date there have been more than 100 graduates of the program, the completion of 20+ major renovation projects and 5 new homes built to LEED standards.The vision of Project REBUILD is to improve the lives and build futures of youth who are out of the educational mainstream.
