- Being Green is nothing new to Flame Engineering, Inc., LaCrosse, KS as they celebrated 50 years of manufacturing in 2009. In the beginning it was a Father and Son operation designing, building and selling propane powered torches out of their garage. The torches were built for weed control in agriculture. The business is still a family owned operation. Flaming is a simple process of exposing the weeds to intense heat and vaporizing the water in the leaf cells. Just a split second exposure to the heat is adequate to kill weeds. Flaming is environmentally friendly since the process kills weeds without the use of herbicides. A concern for the environment has popularized this simple and effective treatment of weed elimination. Flame Engineering is the leader in flaming technology and is continuing to provide solutions for farmers, growers and homeowners throughout the world. Red Dragon products include a variety of powerful hand held propane torches for Farm, Industrial, and Roofing applications. The Weed Dragon a smaller torch kit that comes fully assembled, was developed for the growing number of homeowners concerned with the environment for gardening and other uses on their property. The Red Dragon line also includes large implements for agricultural use such as Row Crop Flamers, Alfalfa Flamers, Vineyard & Orchard Flamers, and the Poultry House Flame Sanitizer. These products meet or surpass the guidelines for use in sustainable and organic agriculture. The equipment is powered by clean burning propane using Flame Engineerings patented processes.
