• Providence Speech and Hearing Center was founded in 1965 to provide Audiology and Hearing Care and Speech-Language Pathology to all people in needregardless of their ability to pay. What began in a single room at a local hospital has grown to become one of the largest clinics of its kind in the country. Our mission is: Enriching Life Through the Gifts of Speech and Hearing. Providence strives to achieve this mission by continually providing the highest quality services in the identification, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of speech, language and hearing disorders for persons of all ages, races and socio-economic backgrounds. Providence is the leading service provider to the speech and hearing impaired of Southern California, with nearly 100,000 patient visits each year. Providence is the only safety net clinic of its type in Southern Californiaproviding comprehensive speech, language and hearing services to low-income people who are uninsured or underinsured. Approximately 63% of our work is dedicated to low-income patients all of whom are uninsured or underinsured.We now have six locations throughout Orange County and one in South Los Angeles County. In addition to speech and hearing, we have expanded our services to include pediatric occupational therapy, fall prevention and balance services, and the Providence Preschool.
