    Description

    • Artelon is a medical technology company that restores health through the development, production and marketing of degradable implants that regenerate body functions and improve quality of life. Artelon produces implants to support soft tissue repair throughout the human body. The companys products are sold internationally through licensed distributors, under the products brand name Artelon®. The Artelon products offer a porous permeable scaffolds for tissue in-growth and re-vascularization, produced from a patented biomaterial. This soft tissue reinforcement provides elasticity that stimulates tissue remodeling while modifying the load during the initial healing period and providing long-term support for the entire tissue remodeling process. Artelon® is a degradable polymer material called polyurethaneurea. Artelon® degrades in the presence of water. About 50% of the material is resorbable and is excreted after hydrolysis. The remaining material is incorporated into the surrounding tissue. As of January 2014, the Artelon headquarters and manufacturing has moved from Sweden, its home for almost 20 years, to the United States.
