Eco Africa Social Ventures

Description

• Eco Africa Social Ventures is a volunteer-run 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting economic empowerment in Africa through the arts and crafts. Our organization helps communities living in poverty to launch or expand sustainable crafting enterprises. By offering financial assistance, operational support and access to global markets, we create pathways to economic empowerment and build stronger communities.Since our formation in 2007, we have been in a partnership with a community of paper crafters in Zimbabwe, mostly women, who have been producing handmade paper products using recycled material since 1995. Eco Africa Social Ventures has been empowering hundreds of previously unemployed and unskilled women with income-generating crafting skills. The women proudly call themselves Eco Africa Paper Crafters and they craft a variety of paper products to fulfill orders from around the world. Our vision is to help other artisan communities in Zimbabwe and eventually across Africa. We are operated on a strictly volunteer basis.
