• Leahs Pantry believes in healthy eating for all. We provide innovative, scalable and effective approaches to nutrition and home cooking in underserved communities. These cost-effective programs provide low-income populations with the access, knowledge, cooking ability, and motivation to prepare nutritious foods for themselves and their families so they can live healthier lives. Our primary products fall into three categories: Food Smarts is a nutrition and cooking education curriculum with a train-the-trainer component. This program is flexible, interactive, and demonstrates impressive results. Materials are available in English, Spanish, Russian and Chinese. The Food Smarts Training Program builds the capacity to deliver this curriculum within organizations serving diverse, low-income populations. Eatfresh.org includes the website, the online nutrition class (Eatfresh.org Mini Course), and the Text-Based Nutrition class. These interventions are delivered online and via text message, providing an innovative way to reach and connect with people seeking support for their healthy choices. A variety of cookbooks developed in community settings. The Tenderloin Cooking School was developed by SRO residents in San Francisco. Recipes are made without a full kitchen. Around the World at the Farmers' Market was developed by 5 different African and Middle Eastern Refugee populations in San Diego. Two cookbooks on deck for 2016, stay tuned!
