Kopernik provides investment management services to individual and institutional investors. Kopernik is a client-centric, 100% employee-owned firm and many employees are invested in the Firms strategies. The name Kopernik was inspired by Mikolaj Kopernik, better known by the Latin spelling, Nicolaus Copernicus, who proposed the heliocentric model of the universe in the early 1500s. What interests us is the fact that he trusted his own observations instead of accepting what everyone thought to be true. As independent thinkers, Kopernik Global Investors honors Mikolaj Kopernik in the contemporary investment world. We believe that accomplished investors who trust their own analysis and instincts can generate significant excess returns as a result of market inefficiencies. David Iben was previously the head of value strategies for Vinik Asset Management. As the Co-Founder and CIO of Tradewinds Global Investors, he has been recognized by nationally known publications from Bloomberg and won several awards by nationally known rating agencies such as Lipper.
