• The mission of The INN Between is to offer Utahs homeless men and women a safe and comfortable place to recuperate from serious illness or experience the end of life with dignity. We envision a community where no one has to suffer from illness or die on the streets. The INN Between opened on August 17, 2015 after years of planning and a several month struggle with unexpected zoning changes. We are Utahs first agency dedicated to providing end of life and recuperative services, bridging a critical and long-standing gap in homeless services. While referred to as a hospice house, The INN Between is actually a surrogate home that can house up to 16 individuals plus staff. We provide a clean, safe, drug-free living environment, clean clothing and bedding, food and meals, laundry service, personal care items, activities, social services and companionship. We partner with professional home health and hospice agencies which provide all medical care, just as the client would receive if he or she had a permanent address. The INN Between is not a homeless shelter. Clients must be referred by a licensed medical professional and have a diagnosis of a serious medical condition or terminal illness. At The INN Between, terminally ill clients receive proper hospice care including nursing visits, medications to control pain and anxiety, home medical equipment, and end of life services such as counseling and spiritual care. We strive to reconnect our clients with their estranged family members. After their passing, we post an obituary on our website, hold a community memorial service, and place their name on a plaque in our Memorial Garden. While in our home, recuperative care clients receive supportive services to further their efforts to secure stable housing and employment. We are beginning NA/AA meetings to help our clients manage addictions of all types.
