• The Angle Project is a NYC based theatre initiative that utilizes performance art to imagine, embody, and materialize possibilities for displaced communities and their hosts. Founded in 2016, TAP grew out of collaboration between two artists and educators, Emma Klauber and Irene Kapustina. Passionate about using theatre as a tool for teaching, community development, and addressing social and political issues, Emma and Irene formed TAP to consolidate their experience and direct it towards helping populations that had to leave their homes and start a new life elsewhere due to political and/or socio-economic reasons, natural disasters or climate change. TAP workshops offer an opportunity for the participants to recreate, relive, and (re)imagine past and hypothetical circumstances and situations to view them from various angles, understand them comprehensively and be able to reflect on them critically. By using role play, devised theatre, games, and interactive theatre activities, TAP helps the participants build performance art skills and gives them tools to express their thoughts, ideas, and life stories in artistic, metaphorical, and, therefore, safe ways. Ultimately, TAP encourages the participants to create new and inspiring life narratives that will help them take positive and productive action to improve their lives and environments around them, while engaging with wider communities in the process.
