Students Run La
Get Full AccessDescription
- Students Run LA (SRLA) provides a free after-school program, mentoring at-risk youth in Greater Los Angeles. Each year, more than 3,200 middle and high school students train alongside 500 volunteer leaders for the LA Marathon. These leaders provide on-the-run mentoring, showing (not telling) students how to set goals, gain confidence, and develop life-long healthy habits. After joining the elite group of marathon finishers, SRLA students know they can do anything!Running success translates to the classroom. In June 2015, 99% of SRLA seniors graduated from high school, and 95% of them plan to attend college.SRLA's program is free for all student participants, most of whom come from low-income neighborhoods. With the support of its donors, SRLA provides students with training shirts, shoes, entry fees, transportation, and more to support them in their training.
