- The genesis of The Benefit Company, a TBX Benefit Partner, dates back to the late 60s with the leadership of Carey Brown. Our company name was rebranded to The Benefit Company (TBC) in 1994. TBC continues to be locally and privately owned by Carey Brown and John Hearn. We believe our private ownership is a meaningful differentiator, especially as it relates to our ability to invest in long-term client relationships. It enables us to serve our clients, based on their multi-year strategy and not on goals set by investors or stockholders.
