• The New York City Urban Debate League is New York's scholastic debate league for all schools, all students, and all ages. Debate since Athens, Greece is the most rigorous academic program for students. That is why so many Presidents, over half of Supreme Court Justices, over half of members of Congress - were members of their school's debate team. This includes one of the South Bronxs top high school debaters, Sonya Sotomayor who became the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice. All our programs (practices every day, workshops every week, tournaments every weekend, debate camps all summer) are for all schools, all students, and all year round! Every year over 90% of our graduating seniors go on to college - many with full and partial scholarships. As the citys most rigorous academic program - we have been honored as one of the nation's top after school programs by every leading education organization in the country including the White House, National Endowment for the Arts, National Council for the Humanities, the Institute for Museum and Library Services, the President's Committee for the Arts and Humanities and First Lady Michelle Obama as one of the top arts and humanities based programs in the country.
