• Impact is a non-profit project of leading advocacy organizations, including Environment America and USPIRG, that runs grassroots campaigns. Its a full-time, two-year commitment to work for our environment, our democracy and our future.Our mission is to create the grassroots action, energy and power it takes to make an impact on important issues.Lets take antibiotic overuse. We should be using antibiotics to save lives -- not to fatten up chickens and pigs in ways that breed new superbugs that threaten our health. Yet the government is reluctant to force factory farms to stop antibiotic overuse. So Impact is organizing consumers to convince the restaurant chains that buy from factory farms to take actionand both McDonalds and Subway have agreed.And if were serious about climate change, we need to commit now to 100 percent renewable energy. The science says we can do it and the economics keep improving, so the only missing ingredient is political will. To mobilize influential early adopters to stand publicly for 100% renewable energy, Impact brought together academics, business leaders and elected officials in key states across the country to join our call to action.The mainstay of our strategy is to get key constituencies involved in ways that maximize their impact on decisions. Thats when you see the action and energy it takes to make an impact on these issues. You could apply to work with us in Boston, New York or San Francisco. But you might make a bigger impact if you apply to work with us in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Minneapolis or Denver -- more conservative places where you might need to reach beyond the usual allies to make an impact.Its up to you.
