- Seaborn Networks is a leading developer-owner-operator of independent submarine fiber optic cable systems. We are committed to changing the way cable capacity is bought and sold by introducing the industrys first carrier-neutral business model. Seaborn was founded by successful telecom, submarine cable and wholesale carrier executives with experience in designing, building and operating many of the worlds largest submarine and terrestrial networks. Seabras-1 is the first direct point-to-point submarine cable system between the financial centers of the US and Brazil. Seabras-1 is a 72Tbps system that will connect New York and São Paulo, with multiple BU's with global potential including Argentina and South Africa. This represents more than 75 cable landing stations, 250 global points of presence and 250,000 km of submarine cable (more than 6X the circumference of the earth). Committed ready-for-service date June 2017. Our pioneering approach: combining consortium-like pricing with the flexibility of an independent cable operator model enabling dramatic economies of scale on the fastest growing primary routes in the world. We bring decades of experience in marketing and selling capacity on international telecommunications systems that we have operated. We also co-owned one of the worlds largest fleets of cable ships. We embrace the objectives of government-sponsored national broadband plans along with an independent cable operator model for new-build subsea systems. This drives affordable broadband penetration to increase GDP in those markets. Our flexible business model enables greater private funding of infrastructure projects for the public good.
