- JAQ Education Trust an innovative, community-based approach to take education to children living in katchi abadis (slum areas) in and around Islamabad ironically in some of the most affluent residential areas of the city. These communities have fallen through the cracks of the governments service delivery system, and have also been overlooked by the non-governmental sector because of their nomadic lifestyles. - Promote literacy and primary education among children from low income households through the Pehli Kiran - School System (PKSS) - a network of non-formal community-based schools. - Safeguard childrens health, instill an appreciation for basic human values and enhance their access to the formal school system - Promote awareness-raising and social mobilization among the school communities towards self-help - Support programs to enhance income generation skills of older students, particularly girls and women from the communities
