Our portfolios comprise companies we believe to be most undervalued based on our Dividend Discount Model (DDM), which takes into account long-term earnings power and dividend-paying capability. Typically, this results in our owning stocks that are out of favor. We seek to limit downside risk by stress-testing the companies we consider for investment and diversifying across industries, geographies and currencies. We also assess quality and economic conditions that may magnify investment risk. We pay little attention to market indices. Consequently, we regularly experience periods when our strategy performance differs widely from market indices. Over time, we believe our process results in superior returns.
