- A hybrid between an art foundation and a patron of the visual arts, Arbor-Borlem looks to finance and further the careers of a number of visual artists working in and around the United States and abroad. Using a curatorial approach that preoccupies itself with finding synergy between various artists and their aesthetic concerns, Arbor-Borlem looks to contribute to the continued development of contemporary culture and aesthetics in the 21st century. Arbor-Borlem has established two major prizes in the visual arts; the first, the $40,000.00 USD Borlem Prize, is awarded to an artist under the age of forty-five every four years (the inaugural prize will be awarded in 2018). The second, the Arthur Toscano de Almeida Memorial Prize, is a $10,000.00 USD prize awarded to an artist under the age of forty every two years.
