• The Positivity Project is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping America's youth build stronger relationships by seeing the character strengths in themselves and others. The premise is simple, but the results will be profound. Together, we will help create a stronger country comprised of citizens, leaders, and communities who internalize the maxim that Other People Matter. We provide K-8 educators with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to teach their students how to identify, appreciate, and articulate the character strengths in themselves and others. By consistently teaching students to understand the strengths in themselves and others, they will build positive and enduring habits. Students will have enhanced self-confidence, stronger relationships, and an increased number of positive experiences thereby cultivating a stronger sense of community at the classroom level and fostering a culture of character across the school. Our comprehensive program includes: positive psychologys scientifically-validated 24 character strengths and their definitions; a proposed annual calendar on when to teach each strength; best practices for infusing character strengths instruction into lesson planning; a guide to help teachers and administrators effectively leverage social media to connect with parents; and recommended materials to place in rooms and hallways to foster a cohesive school-wide program. We are rooted in positive psychology, which is a rigorous academic field that encompasses positive character strengths, positive relationships, and positive experiences. The field cuts across time and cultures and has identified 24 character strengths that are universally morally good. These character strengths, which are present to one degree or another inside all of us, are the The Positivity Projects foundation.
