• Openseminary facilitates graduate theological courses which enables students to reflect on their vocations. This course is designed as continuing preparation for people who are called to a range of vocations. The course is designed to equip people to think about their employment in church, society and marketplace in forms which are theologically, contextually, and globally aware. The structure of the course embraces broad philosophical and theoretical approaches to practice as well as the development of task specific skills and outcomes. The course recognizes the changing social context in which Christians live out their sense of vocation. This course is designed to equip learners to reflect critically and constructively on the praxis of vocation in church, society and marketplace. Such reflection leads to ongoing modification and development of the ways in which Christians shape their lives to be in partnership with Gods work in the world. This approach explores the influence of theology, social sciences and professional knowledge on the way Christians integrate the call of God in life, work and faith. The Masters degree has a practical theological focus. Practical theology has been defined as the theological reflection and construction arising out of, and giving guidance to a community of faith in the practice of its mission. Practical Theology is critical and constructive reflection on the praxis of the Christian communitys life and work in its various dimensions.
